You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.
John 5:39 NKJV
THE IMPORTANCE OF BIBLE STUDY
Since the Bible is the Word of God, studying it is a way to know God more and better. Through His words we come to know not only the nature and attributes of God, but we also come to understand His plan for each of us, His sovereignty, His providence, His love and more.
Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. Psalms 119:105 NKJV.
The Word of the LORD is a lamp that guides our feet from stepping upon the traps of the devil, and a light which shines on our path that will lead us on the path of righteousness that leads to eternal life.
By studying and knowing the Word of the LORD we can see where we are going; it throws beams of light upon the dark paths.
I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Praise be to you, LORD; teach me your decrees. With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth. Psalms 119:10-13 NIV.
But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day. Proverbs 4:18 NKJV.
Jesus Christ, the Lord and Savior has commanded us to study the Word of God, because by doing us we shall know the truth that will lead us to eternal life.
You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. John 5:39 NKJV.
Jesus said to them, And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32 NKJV.
IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO STUDY THE BIBLE ONLY, WE HAVE BEEN COMMANDED TO STUDY AND OBEY THE WORD OF THE LORD.
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. James 1:22-25 NKJV.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ Matthew 7:21-23 NIV.
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” Matthew 7:24-27 NIV.
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall read [and meditate on] it day and night, so that you may be careful to do [everything] in accordance with all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will be successful. Joshua 1:8 AMP.
Blessed [happy, prosperous, to be admired] are those who wash their robes [in the blood of Christ by believing and trusting in Him—the righteous who do His commandments], so that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city. Revelation 22:14 AMP.
